Owen was recently awarded a three-year contract with Kaiser Permanente to provide a full range of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural (MEPS) engineering design services. Kaiser projects will range from small remodels and maintenance to campus master plans requiring major remodels of existing buildings, site improvements, and infrastructure upgrades. All projects will involve a mix of OSHPD and local City compliance and approvals. Kaiser projects may also require fast-track design and execution.
The following technical components will be required, varying specifically upon individual Kaiser project needs:
Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing Engineering: System sizing and load calculations, system configuration, authorship of specifications, and authorship of the engineer's Basis of Design.
Commissioning, Retro-Commissioning, and Assessment: Assessment of existing systems, functional testing, controls systems auditing.
Acoustics: Room-by-room acoustic calculations, acoustic equipment calculations
Emergency Power Systems: Sizing and configuration of emergency power systems, reliability assessment.
Additional services will involve coordinating with Kaiser staff and Contractors; incorporating design-assist work products with the Contractor and other trades into design work products; sustainable, energy modeling, and water use studies; Life Cycle Cost Analysis; design to budget; provide necessary revisions at design milestones; and meets the goals and requirements of Kaiser’s Design Program.
